Have you ever bought something online for your autistic child, based solely on the high product ratings, only to find that the product didn’t hold up to your needs?

Sometimes, it isn’t a matter of the product ratings being inaccurate. In many cases, autistic children are simply harder on things than the average person.

Because of this reality- I figure it is about time that certain products start getting reviews with autism in mind.

The average child uses many electronics throughout the day, just like adults, and just like children with autism. Each group has different needs. The average child needs something that can be dropped and stepped on, while the adult may need something that has a sleek and professional design.

For autistic children, electronics need to be able to withstand virtually everything that they aren’t meant to endure.

Feel free to watch the video below so you can learn about which phone cases produce the best results for dealing with spilled drinks, spit, spaghetti dinners, and even being intentionally thrown to the floor.

To be clear:

ANY electronics case is going to eventually fail the devices that they are meant to protect, given the right conditions. The tablet and phone cases I discuss in the video below are simply a matter of having the best design options that I have found for my son, who has low functioning autism.

After watching you can check out the links I gathered below the video, which can point you towards the case you need for your phone or tablet.

Tablets

The problem that surprises many parents with tablets is the screen size. Sure, people want their kids to have the best here and there, and therefore spring for the larger screen. I fully understand the intention, and motivation to do that every so often. However, the 7″ Kindle Fire has proven to be a happy medium between a large iPad or Surface Tablet, and a smaller cell phone in my experience. When you move beyond the 7″ screen size you run the risk of the device having a higher chance of getting a cracked screen.

When the screen is 10″ or more- they are heavier and have a larger surface area that is going to increase the likeliness of permanent damage when it’s dropped and so forth. I don’t want to ramble on about it, but you should know that choice for a 7″ screen is based on a lot of experience with tablets of all sizes, and how long each lasted with my autistic son.

Of course, you can crack the screen on anything. I’m not pretending to provide a perfect world scenario for tablets or phones. Chewing and biting the screen can cause damage regardless of the case or screen size. I’m simply trying to lend a hand and improve the odds in favor of devices not becoming damaged right away. My kindles are well worn and tested while others have failed, regardless of their proven rating in the world outside of autism.

You will need to ask for your specific model for me to look it up. Sadly, Samsung has far too many versions and exceptions to cases sizes than I can list. Leave a comment and I’ll be sure to help you find what you’re looking for 🙂
